RISKU – Use of silver in Lapland started centuries ago. Many symbols traditionally used on traditional Sámi ornaments are still used today for modern designs. The most popular piece of traditional jewellery is the round brooch decorated with discs, Risku, that is used with the Sámi costume. Its glistening, often golden discs depict the path of the Sun in the nightless night of the summertime where the Midnight Sun shines day and night.
